Regional Team Leader (a.i.), Inclusive Growth and Sustainable Finance Team, Arab States Region
Fekadu is an economist and development planner with over 25 years of experience across government, NGOs, the UN, and bilateral organizations. He has contributed to several publications on the impacts of global and regional shocks on poverty and food insecurity, including the impacts of Gaza war, impacts of Ukraine—Russia war, impacts of Sudan conflict on rural and urban livelihoods and the impacts of COVID-19. He is currently serving as Regional Team Leader (a.i.), Inclusive Growth and Sustainable Finance Team, Regional Bureau of Arab States, Amman Regional Hub.
Before joining the UNDP RBAS Regional Hub, Fekadu was a Policy Specialist (Inclusive Growth and Human Development) at UNDP Ethiopia, where he played a key role in integrating the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development into national planning frameworks, MDGs reporting and national HDR reporting. He led Ethiopia’s SDG roadmap development, Voluntary National Review (VNR) process, and SDG capacity-building initiatives. Earlier, he held key government roles, including Head of Macro Planning and Regional Policy Analysis at a Regional Bureau of Finance and Economic Development, where he spearheaded public investment planning, expenditure management, and regional development strategy.
Academically, he holds MSc in International Economic Policy and Analysis, MSc in Development Planning & Management, and BSc in Agricultural Economics. He has received specialized trainings from recognized institutions.
